What we hope you’ll enjoy

Friends – The Board has been hoping for some time to find a way to expand our experience at Salem. We’re hoping to find ways to engage more folks… younger folks… and draw in a wider group. So, this year, we will having events on Saturday, Aug 1st as well as the full reunion on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026.

That means moving some things – so, we’ll be gathering on Friday evening (July 31st) to open and clean the building. This will begin at 5pm. Please let Bill know for sure if you plan on coming, as he’s going to be picking up some pizza for the group. (psych@pa.net)

Saturday, August 1st we will have a Te Bach. What is a Te Bach, you ask? A tea, basically. The words in Welsh mean “little tea”. So, we’ll be doing tea, scones, cakes, cookies and enjoying each other’s company. We hope to have an extra surprise or two included. If you would like to bring a dish to share, please do! This will be happening at 4 pm.

Again on Saturday, August 1st, after the Te Bach, we’ll be offering an Outdoor Movie! Bill McHenry owns an outdoor inflatable 12 ft movie screen, 2 different sound systems, and a Blu Ray player/burner to attach to a computer to play DVDs or Blu Ray discs. He also owns a theater style popcorn popper. Bring your dinner (picnic style, perhaps?) if you would like, a comfortable chair or a blanket, and perhaps a drink to share. Oh, and you’ll want a flashlight too! We’re planning to see “How Green Was My Valley”. Maybe a cartoon and a newsreel before! If the weather is uncooperative, we’ll have the moving inside the building.

Sunday will be our regular event. There will be ads in July in the Tribune-Democrat, as well as information on our Facebook page as we get closer.

Lastly – The Board is purchasing new hymn/song books from the Welsh North American Association. We’re offering the opportunity for folks to order with us to get the discount rate. Please reach out to Bill McHenry by July 5th as orders will be going in on July 6th. The link above will get you to WNAA’s Festival of Wales page, look for the About The WNAA link and then on the drop down click WNAA Book Store, then Publications and Recordings. Or click here The versions of the hymnal available will be a bit more than half way down that page.

Hope to see you soon!
